Every suite at Salons Elevated has a story, but Danielle Cruz was one of the first to sign — before the paint had fully dried in the Northwest Las Vegas hallway. Today, Suite 12 is Studio Lumière: a one-chair, one-client-at-a-time color studio that has quietly become one of the most-booked rooms in the building.
From commission floor to her own front door
Danielle spent nine years on busy commission floors around Las Vegas, building a balayage-heavy book she loved and a schedule she didn’t. “I was producing more than ever and keeping less than I wanted,” she says. Going independent wasn’t about doing less work — it was about finally owning the outcome of the work she was already doing.
What she does best
Studio Lumière is built around lived-in color: balayage, dimensional blondes, and hand-tied extensions, each done one guest at a time so nobody feels rushed. The private suite means the room is quiet, the playlist is hers, and a color that needs ninety minutes to process gets ninety unhurried minutes — the kind of attention that’s hard to give on a packed commission floor.
Why the suite model works for her
“The math finally makes sense,” Danielle says. A flat weekly rate instead of a split means her best months are genuinely her best months. The all-inclusive setup — laundry, Wi-Fi, security, and retail shelving already in the room — let her open without a build-out loan, and the shared lobby makes a solo studio in Centennial feel established from day one.
A day in Suite 12
On a typical day, Danielle books three or four color clients — never so many that the room feels like an assembly line. Between appointments she restocks her own retail shelf, answers her own booking texts, and keeps the space exactly the way she likes it. “I used to lose twenty minutes hunting for a clean towel or waiting on a bowl,” she says. “Now everything I need is three steps away, and the towels are already folded.” The on-site laundry alone, she jokes, gave her back a whole afternoon every week.
Her advice for pros on the fence
Her advice for stylists still weighing the move is refreshingly plain: “Count your regulars, not your fears.
